The Carter of La Providence

Maigret out of Paris on a bicycle in the French countryside. Lovely descriptions of the weather, the fields, and the canal boat community.

I’d have preferred it if they’d kept the original title of Lock 14 and when you read the book, you’ll find out my reasoning. The difficulty working out what happened in this mystery is not so much the ‘who’, but the ‘why’.

As usual, recommended.
