Places not on Google Maps – Sinlbard

Extracts from the following book – Places not on Google Maps

Sinlbard is mid-way between Norway and Svalbard. This is a mountainous island with large areas of frozen tundra where reindeer and Arctic foxes can be found. The Northern Lights are visible during winter and summer brings 24 hours-a-day sunshine for nearly three months. Local superstition has it that Sinlbard was visited by the mythical sailor Sinbad on one of his voyages.  There is little evidence for this, though there are plenty of massive rocks on the island, many of them at least ten times bigger than an elephant.
